A while back the vets on the Mystery Illnesses Vet's List were asked what
they thought about the Giardia vaccine. Of those who replies not one was
in favor of it. Giardia is easily and affordably treated, but ferrets tend
more than many other mammals to vaccine reactions so it's was thought to be
inviting trouble. Plus, ferrets aren't as likely to be outside licking in
mud puddles and ponds used by other critters as dogs are. (Don't let them
drink from your aquarium, either!) So, if it interests you, that's how
some ferret-specialist vets responded.
