Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which often can be detected only w
ultrasound can cause weight loss till it is found and treated, and
recent studies show that there can be shared vulnerabilities for
developing some heart diseases and developing gum disease those we have
encountered bad breath in a few of ours over the decades who were among
those w a range of heart diseases whose gums were fine. I have been
told that to a lesser extent Dilative Cardiomyopathy also can sometimes
cause persistent weight loss till treated.

A wide range of malignancies can cause both problems

Some liver woes can cause both, as can kidney problems which can cause
mouth ulcerations

Time for a PROMPT vet work up which will probably begin w exam, CBC
and Chem Panel, and depending on how things look also other tests like
x-ray, ultrasound, urine concentration, etc.
