Yes, I have seen this in my rescue.  Some ferrets are so strongly bonded
to their cage mates, that when the cage mate dies they feel there is no
reason to live.
 
We honestly feel that ferrets like other animals including humans can and
will die sometimes of a BROKEN HEART.  This is why I always recommend to
bring a new furkid into the family if you have one that is terminally
ill.  This way the one that will be left behind will have a friend to
console them in their time of remorse and give them the strength to go
on living..  Hope this helps you.
