Several people wrote and asked me to post information about how to
donate to UGA for ADV Research, so here goes.

First, make the check out to "The Arch Foundation". This is the
official fundraising organization for all of the University of GA.

Next, and this is extremely important, write "for ferret ADV research
and vaccine" on the notations line of the check. Because the Arch
Foundation collects money for all of UGA, they are not aware of all
the different projects that the various departments run.

It is also very important that the check get sent to the attention of
Dr. Branson Ritchie. He heads up the team that does the research. The
name of his team is Companion Animal Emerging Diseases. They are the
team that has come up with several important bird vaccines, and they
have also done extensive research on some wildlife infectious diseases.
Again, within the Companion Animal Emerging Diseases program, there are
various projects that are ongoing. By sending the check directly to Dr.
Ritchie's attention, he can insure that the funds get properly credited
in his department to ADV research, even though you may get a letter
saying it went to Emerging Diseases. Here is Dr. Ritchie's address:

     Dr. Branson Ritchie
     H316 VET MED - 1
     ATHENS, GA 30602-0000

Dr. Ritchie will then forward the check on to the proper people to get
it deposited into the Arch Foundation accounts. In the past, when money
has been sent directly to the Arch Foundation, it has not always gotten
properly credited, which is why I stress sending it to Dr. Ritchie's
attention. You can also enclose a brief note stating this is a donation
for ADV Research.

My thanks go out to anyone who does donate to UGA for ADV Research. I
feel this is something important, and it is something I am committed
to seeing through.
