There was a minor nip incident a while after I wrote the previous message.
The crew were fast asleep, and needless to say, I could hardly leave well
enough alone! I just HAD to play with them a little more before bedtime..

Everyone came out just fine. Tle... I did the five pickups in a row followed
up with ferretone, and he seemed more accustomed to being picked up.

Well.... the albino wandered on over and was sniffing me (I had showered a
short time before) and did an investigation nip on my hand.. didn't even
break the skin. I did the 'No.. bad ferret' usual... but this seemed to
encourage him to bite harder. Increasing the volume was met with an
increasing pressure on the hand... so I had to do something to discourage
him. Just as he was about to break the skin, I scruffed him, whereupon he
freaked out. He screamed once, and tried to twist around to bite my hand.
I put him on my lap, and held the scruffing a moment more, all the while
saying at a higher than normal volume "NO.. NO BITE!"

Whereupon I released the scruff and gave him some ferretone to help calm him
down.

I feel a little bad about scruffing him. It is quite obvious that he has
suffered some degree of physical abuse by Mr. Friend, and I believe the
methods he used was to scruff and throw the ferret hard against the cage
wall. My ferret, upon being placed on my lap, ceased screaming immediately,
and just sat there, with the fear of being thrown evident in his eyes. The
reason I say that is because the fert was screaming only when he was being
held in mid-air by the scruff. He also seemed to actually hunch his
shoulder in preparation for impact. Well.. once he realised he was not
going to be thrown, he seemed to accept the scruffing as discipline, rather
than a means to do something far, far worse.

Just on a happier end note... after letting the guy down, I IMMEDIATELY did
another five pickup-and-administer ferretone cycles. The little dear
flinched only very slightly on the first one... and then was back to taking
it like a trooper-ferret.

I apologize for the two long notes.. but I am so excited about the progress
this kid is making, and I just GOT to share it... BIG, if ya think I am
being too excessive, tell me to hush up, and I will... (or try at least! :))

    Cheers, all!

Falkor (maybe this'll be his name) : MMMmmmm! Looks yummy... NIP!
Bryan: HEY! No way.. MY hand! Gimme it back! No bite!
Tenaka and Cayanne: Bwahaaahahahaa! Daddy.. you're SILLY!
