LOL-I was awakened, this morning, by the sound of an incoming text
message from our friend Steve at the GCFA. It read: "Good morning,
sweet one. How does sugar help a ferret with a prolapsed rectum?" I
texted back, but thought I`d share with you how it works!

The sugar absorbs the fluid in the prolapse, allowing it to shrink.
This usually happens within an hour, if the prolapse isn`t too severe,
but in worse cases, it can take a bit longer. (It sounds like Bela`s
was pretty bad.)

I cannot take the credit for this hint. I am on the phone a lot with
other shelters and sanctuaries. We support one another, share ideas,
and seek information (pick each others` brains.)

Shannon Speer from Ferret Dreamers Rescue Haven asked me years ago,
if I had ever heard of this one. I laughed my head off. Errr--uh---No,
I hadn`t. She insisted it was for real, and said it had really worked
when she tried it.

Several weeks later, we took in a little one, riddled with coccidia,
and he had a nasty looking prolapse. I figured "Hey--What have we got
to lose? How could it hurt him?" The prolapse looked better within the
hour, and was gone in three!!! GONE!!!! The sugar treatment has never
failed us yet--nor has it failed anyone we recommended it to :)

If you Google the words rectum, prolapse, and sugar together, a whole
bunch comes up. This works in all animals, even snakes-- and in humans
too!

It`s important to understand the reason for the prolapse, but the sugar
treatment will relieve the prolapse itself, eliminating the risks of
surgery, the discomfort to the ferret, and the strain on your budget.

SWEET!!!

Love,
Zoo
