I have been a "lurker" here for a long time.  I have learned a lot about
ferrets but have never had the pleasure or opportunity to own one (or be
owned by one).  I am moving to White Plains, NY and am wondering if there
is anyone on this list that is familiar with the area.  I am specifically
looking for info on the local laws regarding ferrets, as well as local
ferret clubs, vets and especially shelters.  I hope to adopt a young
ferret from a shelter (or another owner) rather than getting one from a
pet store.
 
It would also be nice to connect with other local ferret lovers for
advice and help if I ever need it in the future.  If anyone has any
