Last night in Lawrence the HS had a meeting.  The outcome was less than
acceptable.  PLEASE CALL THE SHELTER AND OBJECT TO THEIR POLICY ON KILLING
ALL STRAY FERRETS.  Just imagine if your little one got out and it was taken
to this shelter in Lawrence Kansas.  It would be automatically killed.

Rene (the manager) will contact KSU for updated info about Ferrets and
Rabies and Distemper.
 
The Humane Society will make a concerted effort to better distribute
information to the public.
 
     New procedures will be implemented:
     STRAY FERRETS WILL BE EUTHANIZED UPON CAPTURE.
 
Any owned ferrets brought into the facility will be immediately vaccinated
for distemper.
 
They are working on a plan to have a ferret area in the facility which will
keep people from having to track in from the dog room.
