HI Jean-
We have seen this at the shelter with adrenal ferrets- the condition was
cleared up topically by implementing the following listed therapy.  You
will most likely find this is related to the hormonal output of the bad
adrenal-- here we use the following with GREAT results topically apply
calendula gel or lotion - from the health food store--this has NO alcohol
and will in 2-3 day clear the condition up!  also orally administer vitamin
E (1 gel cap )with a few drops of ferretone every other day-- to help the
skin condition...
 
Once this was cleared up surgery to remove the bad gland was performed the
ferret lived another 2 years with fur and all!  good luck
