Once when I went thru ECE, my vet gave me a medicine called Cyproheptadine;
4mg.  Directions were : give 2 droppersful 3 x's daily for appetite
stimulant. I only have it listed for cats in the Merck Veterinary Manual
8th Edition, pg.1680. It's an antihistamine with antiserotonin action. It
inhibits the serotoninergic receptors, which control satiety. There are
other drugs that stimulate appetite, but Cyproheptadine worked best for
my crew. The other drugs are : Prednisone; Stanozolol; Boldenone
undecylenate; Diazepam; Oxazepam; and Megestrol acetate. All are listed
for cats. Cyproheptadine dosage listed for cats : 1-4 mg, PO (per oral),
b.i.d. I hope this helps anyone with appetite problems for their furkids.
