LOL! YES!! The cat's food is on a high shelf only cats can get to (the
jumps are too wide for my ferrets). The ferret's food is in a large parrot
feeder in the cage, but I've caught my cats reaching in with her paw and
scooping out tidbits! We just laugh at her (if we'd put that in her dish
she would have been offended!) and that seems to be all the discouragement
she needs. The dog will snarf up the pieces the fuzzies kick out, but can't
get to the ferret dish where it is.

The dog food, however, is a favorite of five out of my six ferrets and a
constant problem. She goes nuts trying to defend her bowl from 5 sly and
fast ferrets! She stands there and desperately tries to eat it before they
can get it. She sometimes gets angry enough to growl at the ferrets (have
you ever heard a dog growl with food in its mouth?). I've been careful
lately to put up the food dish to help the situation, but the dog stands
there and woofs at me that she wants her food! :) And the ferrets seem to
be able to smell it and try over and over and over to get to the food.
Sheesh. It seems like the worse it is for them, the more they want it!
Like ferret-candy or something.

Thought for the day:
