There are added costs beyond the test cost such as the vet time,
supplies to take the draw, disposal of sharps, etc., but when the
cost of a TN Panel is very high it is usually because no one informed
the vet about how to directly submit the specimen. Many vets still go
through an intermediate lab and then the cost about doubles because
that is what that lab charges vets to forward the test. That is
probably what happened with your ferret.

You can find links to the TN Panel info for direct submission in the
Miami Ferret website, and in the archives of the FML and FHL. Give
that info to your vets.

We usually use the test for ferrets who might or might not have adrenal
disease, or who might or might not have poor control with possible
complications. When the situation is very clear we do not do it on
ours.
