I've been lurking and reading more than posting to the list. I however,
wanted to let everyone know that we lost our little old lady Jasmine
sometime today (Tuesday). She would have been 8 years old in April of
this year. She was diagnosed with adrenal disease back in September of
last year and then we noticed she was having hind leg weakness. Back to
the vet we went for blood work. It was then discovered that she had
insulinoma. Both the vet and we decided that surgery was not an option
for her because of her age. My husband and I discussed at length what to
do, we decided that we would make the best of whatever time she had left
with us and make her as comfortable as possible. I guess her tired old
body decided it couldn't fight it anymore and gave up. She died quietly
in her sleep, curled up in her hammock. I found her late this afternoon
when it was time to give her some out time.

Jasmine is not the first ferret I have lost, but she has hit me the
hardest. I have been in tears since I found her. My husband and I knew
that her time on this earth was somewhat limited, but just thought, or
rather, maybe hoped that the time would be longer than it was. God, I
miss her so much already. She was our cranky old lady, did not like to
be held, but was getting better at it since I was duck souping her. She
would curl up in my arms and slurp her duck soup like it was the greatest.

I know in my heart that she is in a much better place and more at peace
with herself and has hopefully found her one true love Baby, whom we lost
almost 3 years ago.

Rest in peace pretty girl, mommy still loves you and misses you
