My beautiful champagne/cinnamon boy, Teddy left for Rainbow Bridge
last night/early this morning. Teddy was only 5 1/2 years old and had
insolinoma for about a year. He also had the beginning of kidney failure
for which I changed his diet to feline KD and made a special soup for
him from the cans of feline KD and the KD kibble which was puree'd in a
blender for him. He was spoiled and hand fed in my lap since being on KD
and either ate out of a spoon or licked his soupie from his glass bowl.
I still cannot believe his is gone! I am shocked that he passed away.

Yesterday morning he was up walking around, ate most of his soup but not
the usual amount. I went in to give him his 2nd feeding for the day and
he was laying in a sleepsack by himself which is unusual. I gave him
1 ml of glutose45 and he seemed a bit better though he did not want to
eat at all and pushed it away. I spoon fed him a bit but he was grinding
his teeth. I put him on the couch and he just was not right. I called
my vet and she said to give carafate and kaopectate, which I did and
waited and then tried to feed him baby food. He wanted nothing to do
with anything and I knew something was wrong. I called my vet back and
I brought Teddy in on an emergencey visit. He was very lethargic. She
kept him and put him on an IV drip and gave injectable antiobics. She
felt he may be septic. She called me an hour after he was admitted and
said his bg was 30 on her meter and 45 on a meter like the ones we use
at home.

I was shocked because Teddy was fine in the morning and out doing his
usual, etc. Teddy had a follow up cbc a couple of months ago ( he had
one every 3-4 months to be on safe side, due to kidney problems starting)
and his white blood count was low so he was put on anitibiotics in case
there was an infection festering inside. After being on antibiotics for
2 weeks, he had a repeat cbc and there was no change in the white blood
count values. He seemed fine and even his kidney values were back in
normal range after being on KD! What happened??

I had my vet open him up this morning and he was loaded with tumors
everywhere and said he was an ugly mess inside. She believes he had
adenocarcinoma ( I think that is what she said, will know when I pick
his body up tomorrow, too numb to concentrate on anything).

I am still in shock and do not believe he is gone. He was such a
beautiful, good boy.

Sleep in peace my dear sweet boy and one day we will all play together
again at Rainbow Bridge. Bye my sweet Teddy, I love you and will miss
you so much.
