I use this stuff as ferret litter, tortoise substrate, and bird litter.
It is for horses and I have had no problems.  It looks kind of like corn
cob, sort of like wood pellets.  It is very absorbent, more so than wood
pellets.  I get mine at Tractor Supply Co.
