Sue, I saw your post today and thought I'd pass a phone number on to you.
It's my local shelter here, they said that about a week ago, a young couple
came in looking to adopt a pair of older ferrets ( 2 - 5 years old).  You
can give the shelter a call and see if they have them on a wait list for
ferrets.  The shelter is called HillSide Shelter and their phone number is
570-622-7769, they are in Schuylkill County PA.
 
Another shelter you should call and ask who is on their ferret waiting list
for a pair of ferrets is Ruth Steinert Memorial Shelter and their phone
number is 570-544-2920, you could ask for Diane or her daughter as they
run the shelter.  I wish you luck with finding a good home for them,
