AFAIK the actual use of these is not harmful. However the threat of
them being tipped and either contacting the skin or fur, eyes, face,
etc.....or actual ingestion, would be terrible, and you must take care
to place the diffuser in such a way that no animal can get it, and that
it cannot be knocked down if bumped.

I actually just lock mine away so that no one can mess with it (cats,
fuzzies) when I am gone or out of the room. Diffusers are so strong,
you may notice that you have to put it away just to get a break from it.
