We've had our second shelter ferret that was diagnosed with heartworm.  This
one was a found ferret so we don't know his origins.  The first was from
Florida.  Symptoms were lethargy, and weight loss.  His appetite was
marginal but he was eating.  Diagnosis was through the SNAP test, done by
our shelter vet.
 
He's being treated with six monthly treatments of Heartguard.  We're keeping
our fingers crossed that he does as well as the first one did, who bounced
right back after his treatment.
