I need your help everyone! I'm curious to know if anyone has had
'reasonable' success with removing pet urine odor from underneath carpet
surface? If so, what product(s) have you used?

I just had professional carpet cleaners thoroughly clean my entire condo
today and even after 4 hrs. of intense cleaning of the carpet, they were
unable to completely remove the persistant urine odor from underneath the
carpet in some areas.

Mind you, I have lived in the condo for one year and there was a cat in
it previously so this problem already existed, to some extent, prior to
my moving in, and it's not just from my own furkids' accidents. And as
much as I'd like to keep the old dark tan shag stuff because it doesn't
show any stains or dirty spots, the carpet really does need replacing and
it's over 5 yrs. old and just stinks!!!

Problem is that the owner originally refused to replace the carpet when I
initially moved in a year but I'm hoping I can bargain with him this time
around (no carpet replacement, no lease renewal!!) In my opinion, it's
actually become a health issue at this point so I'm going to fight him
on this one if I have to. And I'm not going to ask for anything fancy
obviously - just want the padding underneath removed!

Incidentally, the carpets were also shampooed before I moved in (but
obviously not very well) and I have also done my own carpet cleaning
with a home steam cleaner but it's not a terribly great machine although
certainly better than nothing at all.

So whatever products or methods anyone can recommend, please let me know!
Thanks!
