A few days ago I posted some pics and notes about my project to remove
the litter box to a chamber separate from the cage.  I have moved all
the info onto a web page with some new pictures and text.  This should
be enough info for anyone interested in duplicating the project, but if
anything isn't clear drop me a line.  If you come up with some other
ideas or your own pics, you can send me those as well.
 
So far I am very happy with how it turned out.  All the ferrets use it
routinely, odor is down and their bedding is cleaner.
