I am a shelter and personally I tend to agree with Wormhole here. You
should be sure where your hard earned dollars are going. Shelters should
have their previous year's financial statements of expenses/income. It is
a business after all. A non-profit business. Most non-profits put out a
pie chart or something that says how much goes to administrative costs and
how much to the actual charity. I would have no problem with someone
asking for that information or wanting to come by and see what kind of care
I give. I'll admit the decor isn't great, but the ferrets are well taken
care of. We have high hopes for the decor when we get time.

If you aren't physically able to get out to see the shelter of choice -
then what about a online/phone interview. How much do you hear about this
shelter in the overall ferret community? Are they atleast trying to help
themselves too?

Glad you spoke up Worm.
