Hi Everyone,

Last Thursday I became a foster mom for the first time. They came to me
with only about 12 hours warning. When they got here I cannot describe
the condition they were in. They were so filthy you couldn't even hold
them. Now keep in mind I like the smell of ferrets. These guys smelled
worse than any scented ferret ever could.

The first order of business was a bath. I thought they smelled bad dry!!
Next, we set up a "home" for them. I had to put my own kids sick cage
into use. I went through their things to see if anything was salvageable
enough so they had one thing of their own so the transition might go a
little easier. Not a chance. It's 6 days later and that stuff is
sitting out in my yard in the hopes that the smell of it might abate
enough that maybe I could put them in my washing machine. All they have
is an old shirt, a piece of material and a nylon hammie. They don't even
have decent names. For now their names are A and Z.

They are 2 MF male, 3 1/2 year old ferrets. A is a dark sable and he is
the smallest male ferret I have ever seen. Z is the most unusual color.
His coloring borders on red. A follows me around like he's my little
shadow and he's afraid of letting me out of his sight. Z is having a
harder time adjusting. I have not yet been able to get him to eat solid
food. He's a frantic little guy too. He has claimed an end table drawer
as his own and he is trying to stuff as many toys in it as it will hold.
With a little time and a lot of love they will be great little furchins.

Today they got a nice little surprise in the mail. It was pouring
buckets out here and I looked out the window and spotted a package on my
front porch When I brought it in both A and Z were quite curious as to
what it contained. Of course they had fun licking the rain drops off the
package too In it we found some hammies, sleep sacks and treats of their
very own. Thanks to a very special lady named Rose. I fixed up their
little house with all their new things and they were asleep in their new
sleep sack within 10 minutes. If you listened carefully you could hear
a very contented sigh of thanks. When (if?) they go to their adopted
family these new things will be going with them.

Rose, A and Z said to send you a very special fuzzy hug.
