Hi everyone - I have written numerous times about my three ferrets, Winnie,
Chloe and Connor - who all have their share of health problems but are
overall doing well for now.  But this isn't about them - I called my x
roomate last evening to ask her a random question and she sounded funny -
I asked her what was wrong and she told me that Dief died.  Dief is her
ferret who is also my chole's brother.  He was just shy of 4.  For most
of his life dief has had diarreah as a normal poop for him - and it would
vary - no one ever knew why he was like this - he just was and for four
years.  A few months back he lost most of his body weigh and was just skin
a bones basically - he was put on some meds (I can't remember) and he was
doing well - still had diarreah but put a lot of weight back on.  Thursday
night my roomate was playing iwth him a bit and she said he was wired - not
only had he missed his litter box twice that day, but he didn't want her to
put him down - she siad he just held on to her and he didn't want her to
let go (maybe his way of saying good bye).  Later that night she went back
to see him and he was dead - she said that he was juts lying there and his
whole leg was purple.
 
What does that mean - what could it have been that killed him?  I felt so
horrible - it wasl ike losing one of my own - cause he was like mine - he
was my fourth child and my chloes brother.  It was so cute when he woudl
come to visit (over the summers we went home and during the years all the
ferrets lived together at college and we just graduated this past may) so
when deif came to visit chloe and he got soo excited - they wouldn't leave
eachother sides.  IT was so cute to see the bond that remained between them
and now it is no longer.  It is so sad and I am just hoping that someone
may have some idea of what could have caused his death.  He had no signs of
anything else wrong with him - any ideas?
