Hello FML!
I had posted a week ago in regards to my Tango which I suspected was
showing signs of early insulinoma. He's only 2 years old. As you recall,
I was very frustrated because there are very few vets here in my town
(Bismarck, ND) and they are not very ferret knowledgeable. The vet I first
took Tango to, clipped Tango's vein to get blood and just told me he had a
low blood glucose reading. I was upset because there was nothing else the
vet wanted to do for Tango, no other tests! A few of you had e-mailed me
with suggestions of getting in contact with your vets, and experiences you
have been through, etc. I e-mailed each of you back (hopefully did not
miss anyone), and want to thank you for your wonderful suggestions and
support!

Tango did see a new vet last week...I am very pleased with her. She is
very knowledgeable about ferrets. When she took Tango's blood....he
didn't hardly flinch, she didn't clip his nail! I kept him occupied with
ferretvite while she put a tourniquet on his front paw and drew blood from
a vein there...he didn't even mind at all! She told me that there is a
more accurate reading when you take blood from the vein of the front
leg/paw (not sure where exactly she stuck the needle...I was trying to keep
my fert distracted), rather than clipping their nails (quick), something
about different readings. He is now on Pediapred eating a high protein
meal and being monitored this week. Then she will see him again at the
end of this week. We talked about the possibilities of exploratory surgery
of the pancreas. She even came to my house which was so much more of a
relaxing environment for Tango. He still has a long haul in store for
him....I just want to make him as comfortable as possible.

Thanks again all...FML people are the greatest! Hugs!
