Marshall Farm ferrets have 2 blue dots in the right ear - one for
descenting, one for neutering.  It's a way to help them keep track of who's
been done.
 
If there is only one dot, it is NOT a MFF, according to Judi Bell, DVM, who
used to work for MF.
 
The blue dots are NOT a trademark of MFF - blue dots cannot be copyrighted.
In fact, private breeders have been known to tattoo their ferrets as well as
some of the smaller ferret farms.
 
You really have to go by the paper work - but if there are no dots or only
one dot, it is definitely not a MFF.
