Just got another hard learned lesson today. A rescue ferret I took in
required emergency surgery for a foreign object in his stomach. It was
two very teeny pieces of hard plastic. Last night I found a chewed up
sample pack of medicine my doctor had given me. They had eaten the
plastic bubbles off the front. This must have got knocked off the
counter or something. (It was a med like Prevacid, so no problems in
that regard, thankfully.) The pieces were small enough they should
have passed right through his system. However, one was too sharp and
cut into the stomach, starting a reaction that kept the pieces from
passing.

For those who don't know the symptoms, he was throwing up on Friday.
Ferrets do not normally throw up. He was taken to the vet. Sunday he
was pawing at his mouth after drinking water, an indication something's
going on with the stomach.

He's fine now, or will be after several days of meds, soup and
convalescing.
