There is a very simple procedure that our vet uses to draw blood from a
ferret with out anesthesia. I hold the ferret by the scruff and with the
other hand, hold the rear legs secure. The needle is inserted near the
collar bone and the blood is drawn from one of the major veins. I don't
know which one but I do knopw that it works and have observerved this
proceedure on all my ferrets at one time or another. I don't think there
is any7 real disconfort to the ferret other than the needle prick. If
you need any further information, please email me for the telephone
number of our vet. Have your vet contact him and I believe he will be
more than happy to explain the proceedure.
