Until Alexander puts some size and weight on, keep them apart! This ferret
is much too small to take care of himself right now, and if Cedric is being
particularly rough, the best thing to do is wait a few weeks until Alex is
bigger.

Some ferrets will adapt right off, others won't. IMO, when you get a new
ferret, spend some one-on-one with the new addition yourself. there will be
plenty of time for Alex to make friends with Cedric - it's more important
right now for the 2 of you to develop a bond/relationship.

If you force the issue at this point, you may only traumatize Alex. Keep
them next to each other in separate cages/carriers for now - a baby this
size will do quite well in a carrier at this point - there is time enough
for a bigger cage with a playmate later.
