re the Charlottesville people - there are people in Woodbridge,
Va., Reidsville, N.C., Virginia Beach, Va. and possibly Roanoke.

For the question about ferret breeders, contact the Shelters
That Adopt and Rescue Ferrets (STAR*Ferrets), 703-354-5073.
From past experience, there are a number of mink/fitch farms
that went to pet ferrets for the profit. Some of their
animals are pretty nasty, too. I suggest dealing with a
reputable breeder affiliated with one of the major national
ferret organizations or strong local clubs. You might also
consider adopting a ferret from a shelter.
