I cannot say for sure, but the food you received from the Ferret Depot
was probably the older, chicken only formula.  I received an order
recently that was the newer chicken/pork formula.  It was produced in
late June/early July and was one of the first batches of the new formula.
As far as I know they are done with tweaking the formula other than to
try and add flavor enhancers to help make it more acceptable.
 
The older Natural Gold formula has somewhat of a fruity smell while the
new formula does not.  Also, the older formula came in 4lb bags and 20lb
bags.  They have discontinued the 4lb bag and have gone to a 3lb bag
instead.
