Ok, many of you may remember me as the one who offered to mount Diane
Taylor's maltese pennies into necklaces. Many of you took me up on the
offer, and thus far, I haven't heard any complaints. The coins are
mounted in a sterling silver coin mounting, hung on a sterling silver
venetian box chain. (This chain has square instead of round links,
making it structurally much stronger than a regular chain. It is also
lovely. The flat sides make it almost sparkle.) Appearantly the Ferret
Store sells an identical necklace for about $50.

Today, my post is somewhat different. I've been reading about all the
shelters having trouble lately, and really want to help out. But I have
a baby on the way, and a $300 vet bill fromm when my Tasha-girl was sick,
and just can't afford to donate. I discussed some things with Diane, and
she has agreed to send me 50 pennies, for free, to do with as I see fit.

What I would like to do with these pennies is mount them into necklaces,
and donate them to shelters for fundraising. Shelters with shows coming
up might sell them at booths, or they may do well on Ebay, both for
ferret lovers and coin collectors.

If I mount them on 18" chains, they come out to about $7.00 a piece my
costs. (For the mountings and chain.) Of course, for 50 pennies, this
would get much more costly than I can handle myself, but if any shelters
are interested, or others are interested in helping, I would gladly
donate the time and labor, and pay for shipping.

I'm fairly sure there are several people on this list who would testify
to the charm of these finished necklaces, if anyone is worried about what
they look like...

If you're interested in discussing this further, please email me.

Thanks,
Melissa Kuzara
