I would say that 6 feet is pretty close to that stove for your ferrets.
I am currently staying in a house that has exclusive wood heat and I had
my ferrets in the same room as the stove.  I moved them to another room
entirely.  I have found from past experience that the little guys prefer
a cool room.  I would not want to have to sleep in our stove room, let
alone sleep there in a fur coat.
