I wasn't sure whether Limejello was joking and even if he was I didn't find
the story humorous, especially about beating a step-child.  Sure, maybe
people are a little touchy about subjects like this these days but so were
a few people thirty or forty years ago when jokes about minorities and
women were considered acceptable.
 
However, I don't think the post should have been disallowed.  In fact, I
skipped it when I first read that issue, just like I skip posts from
particular people or with particular subjects.  Changing the social climate
doesn't entail censorship but happens instead when people make it clear
that they don't appreciate the humor.
 
As someone with firm beliefs about how both animals and children should be
treated I did not appreciate the humor.
