I personally prefer not to use pumpkin as it is vegetable matter and
ferrets don't process veggie matter well. The sugars and carbs also
concern me. Per 1/4 cup pumpkin:

I usually recommend folks up the meat protein level in the diet a bit
to help improve the stool. It's digestible, it's soluble, it's low in
fiber, carbs and sugars and they are able to absorb more nutrients
from a meat-based protein source.

Shron, have you looked into a possible poultry allergy?
