This is what New Zealand wanted everyone to think when they made owning
ferrets illegal about 10 years or so, ago. The truth is, the real
danger to native bird populations is the feral cat....which is also
an introduced specie in New Zealand.

Yes, there are feral, breeding colonies of polecats (ferrets) in New
Zealand, but they are not the problem.
