I wrote a few weeks back regarding Ernie having what I thought were
insulinoma or adrenal problems. We took him to the vet for blood work.
First she said to fast him for 12 hours to which I got resounding NOs
from various people. He did have two weird episodes while at the vets
(spittle at the mouth but no disorientation) and at first she thought
that his problems might be related to his teeth. While Ernie was
anesticized (he wouldn't hold still for the needle to get the blood and she
couldn't find a vein) she looked in his mouth and didn't see any
discoloration. She got the blood count back and they said his glucose
count (?) was 11 which of course everyone thinks is way too low. She
then asked them to do another test and they said that they didn't have
anymore blood. Our vet said she took enough blood for plenty of tests so
now I'm wondering if the count on the first test is right. However, my
I'm reaching here though). For over a year (or so) Ernie developed the
anoying habit of knocking his food and water dish (its a combination) so
that his water goes all over as well as in his food. My thinking is - Is
he doing this to get his food mushy on purpose since eating the hard food
hurts his tooth? The vet wanted to do x-rays on his teeth but now
there's something about the x-ray machine not being the right size.
Anyway - what do ya'll think?
