I have a friend with both ferrets and parrots, and she gets a product
called something like "Bird Poop Remover".  She says it works wonders for
removing dried ferret and bird poop from walls, carpets, and floors of
various composition.
 
It's moderately expensive, costing about $18 for a 32 oz spray bottle, to
the best of my recollection, but it goes a long way.  She buys it at a pet
store that has a lot of bird products.
