1. Ferrets will start slowing down between 4 and 6 yrs old unless they
are ill.

2. Martin sells excellent cages and many ferret breeders or rescues have
chosen to standardize on them.  IMHO Tte only downside I see to some not
all Martin's cages is the fact they use shelves where a complete floor
could be and waste space.
 
Another cage is Corner Creek and has built in litter pans.  *I* use
Midwest cages and a ferret retrofit kit from Kritter Koncepts.
