Mark, that's a point I've definitely thought of.  See, I used to live in
Los Angeles, and around 1996, I was at a company picnic who's president
really liked to splurge on kiddie attractions.  So one year, he got a
clown.  She was a very nice clown, and brought two ferrets with her.
Right in the middle of a San Fernando Valley park, in public, in broad
daylight.  I'd never seen a ferret before, but thought they were illegal,
so I spoke to her about it.  I seem to remember her saying that as part
of her entertainment license, being a registered and/or professional
clown allowed her to own ferrets if she made them part of her
entertainment.  And before anyone sucks in too much air while reading
this, her ferrets were not exploited circus animals.  It was obvious
that she loved them as personal pets.
 
So, does anyone currently living in CA have some sort of license
(entertainment or otherwise) that legally allows you to own ferrets?
Anyone know about this loophole?  Has it since been closed?
