Ferrets who get fat really fast might indicate heart problems. I recommend
an x-ray before going into surgery to see if the heart is enlarged. The
ferret might need lasix or heart medicine. My 6 year old male gib bloated
up and I too thought it was fat at first - then it became obvious that it
was fluids and we had him drained. He is on lasix now.
