Howdy from Eden & the woozle boys in Seattle,
 
Laura asked about what "solvent" to use for ear cleaning.  Our vet has us
use mineral oil to dissolve the wax, when they only have wax.  (For Ear
mites they gave us a medication called Epi-otic) you "just" put a few drops
of the oil in the ear & massage it in gently (while the ferret tries it's
best to escape) then wipe clean with a cotton ball or tissue etc.  I have to
agree that Q-tips seem like you'd stand a higher risk of damaging the
ferrets ears.  All of which reminds me that tonight is ear-cleaning night -
ugh!
