My Jake, who will be 3 this year, put on 1lb over the course of less than a
year, and started just laying around, watching the other 3. He'd come up
to us and just lay down infront of us and put his head on our foot..I was
worried.. took him to the vet.. she took blood and gave him an xray..
blood count looked good, xrays looked good.. his eyes, coat and skin
looked great, but she said that she couldnt rule out anything
'sub-clinical' -- something could be brewing, but it doesnt show up yet..
so, if he's still out of sorts, she wants to run thyroid and a few other
tests.. that's all I can say about weight gain. Some days he joins the
fun, and even instigates.. most days he just speedbumps. we're keeping a
close eye on him. Good luck with your fella...
