Ok- I have to gripe to someone about this, and I am sure you can all
understand. I am not a "shelter" per se, but I have been well know in
my circles to take in unwanted or stray animals and either keep them or
find them a good home somewhere. I do all of this out of my pocket and
on my own, and the only animals I have now are "my little orfinks"-
what I call orphaned babies that are banished from their homes for one
reason or another. both of my ferrets are 2nd hand gold, and I love
them (they will never be rehomed- I refuse to give them up).

now I have someone asking if I would like a kitten- only 5 months old.
I know this part isn't exactly ferret related directly, but like I
said- I need to vent. Anyway this person says she is not home enough
to give the sweet little kitten the attention deserves. did I mention
the kitten is 5 months old? my next question was- what happened in
your life in the last 3 months to make you not have enough time for
the kitten you have? NOTHING. she is working the same hours and even
actually graduated from some night classes she was taking for her job-
so there is MORE time she gets to spend with the kitten she promised a
home to. oh, and then she asks me if I have ferrets-she heard I did.
"yes- I do". her response to that is- "my new daughter in law has a
ferret that she can't keep because she is pregnant, and they aren't
safe around babies. do you want it?" so not only am I expected to find
a home for a kitten, but a ferret too because they are "dangerous"
around babies-it took everything in my power to not scream at her
about how stupid that is.

I can't even start to tell you how irritated I am with the whole
situation, and the poor animals that get involved in these selfish
situations are just innocent bystanders that get caught in a bad
situation for no reason. my heart goes out to all those who take
these unwanted babies in, and the sweet animals they effect.
