Friday and Potpie here. Our personal favorite toy(s) right now are two
grocery bags which are stuffed with those plastic shopping bags - if
we're persistent, we can knock the paper grocery bags over and scatter
the (previously neatly packed) plastic rustly bags ALL OVER the foyer
entranceway. This way, mom always knows where we are (she can hear us
rustling), but we dont know why she comes over to stare at us so much -
we've never eaten any of the bags or gotten stuck in them before!

Melissa here - the bags are a wonderful toy in profusion, but i never
quite trust one or two bags by themselves. Friday's favorite /other/ toy
is our cat; Potpie's is the dryer hose.

Question: Why do some ferrets never get along with other ferrets? Why
will they only refuse interaction with other ferrets, and not with
rabbits/cats/dogs/people/etc? Ecologist that i am, i currently suspect it
has something to do with territory defense and defending against
intruders into the ferret's family; does anyone know actual reasons?

Potpie and Friday - ferrets for a three-dimensional environment - Friday,
who was hopelessly clumsy when we got her a few weeks ago, has become
/much/ more coordinated and lost much of her fear of heights - ZOOM, up
the side of the couch or the cat condo. FWUMP, leap off the couch.
SCRAMBLE, up the side of the bed. FLING, off the bed onto the beanbag.
Maybe she was only allowed floor access by her previous owners? Potpie,
btw, is as close to being a gymnast as a ferret can get.

Potpie, "5 ft from the couch to the table? No problem."
Friday on the windowsill, "!!!!! The floor is HOW far away?"
Melissa, listening to the pleasant sound of ferret bodies *fwump*ing
ungracefully to the floor.
