Hmmmm. We did not receive the FML today, but it is, after all, the day
following the Summer Solstice. Don't know about the rest of you, but up
here, the Solstice has a real place in the Alaskan psyche. The sun
literally does not set. Since winter, the days have slowly gotten longer,
but now they will get shorter again by a little bit each day, and another
winter, with it's prolonged darkness, is approaching.

                   Swamp Thing

Maybe this is old news, but ...
Happened to have the Tube set to the *Swamp Thing* on the Sci-Fi Channel
last week, and saw another misrepresented ferret appear for a few seconds.
The program was, of course, a re-run. From the corner of my eye. I saw a
domestic fuzz-butt appear out of the night, at the psychic behest of the
swamp creature. It then made off with the bad guy's satchell, proportedly
full of stolen money.

In reality it probably contained the poor man's socks. I can relate... and
yes, I know that rates about a '2' in the grand scheme of things, but for
some it is the equivalent of an *Elvis sighting* so there you go.

                   Change the FML?

To those of you who would alter the content and format of the FML, remind
yourselves of the old adage, "Be careful of what you wish for, etc". The
Internet is changing; BIG will eventually find, or need to find, other
things to do with his time; or maybe hoardes of doo-doo heads from Ca-Ca
land will over run us all.

The point is, that for this one brief moment in time we are able to be here,
doing this pretty neat thing. From all over the planet, different sizes,
shapes, and personalities sharing a common theme this way. Revel in it.

I am just old enough to remember the tail-end of the Age of Radio, and this
time is a bit like that, in a more personal sort of way. I take great joy
in imagining what some of you must be like. I can visualize a few of you
reading the FML in the morning at the computer in your bathrobes, with that
first cup of coffee at work in the morning, during a break in the day, or
maybe on campus somewhere.

I have mentally marked some whith an 'A' for "anal retentive", and others
with a 'B' for "beautiful people", etc. We are a little cross section of
humanity with a common interest ... no more, and no less. Think of what it
would be like without the sugar and spice, fruits and nuts, and all those
funky flavors that you just can't quite put your finger on.

Why that's a Saltine Cracker - without the salt!

Take care
