Please Read This:
 
I was distressed to learn that the figures I posted last month as the First
Monthly FML Shelter Update were misunderstood in a way that could be harmful
to the shelters.
 
When I report that a shelter has had $5432 in expenses over the past 12
months and has had $4321 in income, this does **NOT** mean that the shelter
has spent $5432 and still has $4321 left over!  Not at all!  It means that
not enough income has been taken in to cover the expenses so far.  It means
there is a deficit.  It means the shelter owner is spending their own money.
It may mean there are outstanding debts.
 
I will be posting a Monthly Shelter Update again in a few days.  My
intention is to let the Ferret Community know the status of some of the
shelters.  My hope is that people will draw the conclusion that there are
some ferret kids out there who need your support.  I did not realize I
should explain a basic accounting concept when I posted the numbers, but I
will try to think of a concise way to do so.
 
Please take an interest in all the shelters on the FML.  There are wonderful
people on this list making personal sacrifices every day for the fuzzies.
