What a beefy list today! (or yesrterday???)

I e-mailed the guy at PETCO, hope something comes out of all the concern!

I have seen pictures of a declawed ferret (Bandit on the F.A.S.T. site)
let me just say that I think anyone who declaws a ferret should have their
fingernails ripped out and see how THEY feel. I'm not a fanatic, every
cat I ever had growing up was declawed and they couldn't care less, but
a ferret is just not designed in a way that supports declawing! After
seeing those pictures, my heart just bleeds for the poor little guy!

About cages, the one I'm getting is by KENNEL-AIRE (sp?) I've looked at a
lot of cages and have found that I like this one even better than some of
the more expensive ones. In the petsmart here in Ont. Canada it's
$199.99 It would probably be even cheaper in the states if they carry it.

I am so pleased that others are voicing their opinion of the critisizing,
and judgement that sometimes go on here. I know that we can get very
carried away, you should see ME what I'm really worked up about something.
I think sometimes we really need to calm ourselves down before we respond
to things we read. People are different. Nobody is in the same situation
as anyone else. So we are bound to go about somethings differently. I
think care of pets and children are rather similar. As Barbra Colloroso
(sp?) put it, before you act on something, ask yourelf 3 things "Is it
life threatening? Is it moraly threatening? Will it grow back?" This can
be appied as much when your 13 year old son comes back from the salon with
a purple mohawk as when someone with a limited income's ferret has only
2 hammocks, only 3 kinds of treats, or only a cage instead of their own
room. If the ferret's basic physical needs are met, if they are loved,
played with, given proper medical care, and are happy, leave it alone.
As long as the furparents as doing the best they can and the ferrets are
happy and healthy then they are no worse of than the wealthy ferrets who
get a 10 stoey cage, eat out of a gold plated food dish and drink bottled
water.

Hugs and dooks all 'round!

Amanda.
