Another ADV positive ferret crosses the bridgeb & That was 3 in a matter
of 6 months (June, November and December). I knew she would be next
after Chico, but I never expected it so soon.

Sadie was one of 8 ferrets we adopted all at one time. She followed me
around like a little puppy dog b how could I NOT adopt her! She ruled
the roost but was nice about it and she told them if they tried to mess
with her. She always did that little dance waiting for treats. She was
fortunate to have almost a year ADV free. She got sick a couple times
with fever and scared the shit-outa-me. Later she developed insulinoma
so we put her on Pred. Like a lot of older ferrets on Pred she developed
ulcers. So we put her on Sucralfate. After her cataracts got so bad she
really had a hard time dealing with it and became disoriented. It could
have been because of all the medical problems she had to deal with going
on inside of her. In other words she did not age well like some.

She developed tarry stools and didnb t want to eat. I did force-feed her
for a few days to see if she would start eating again. I was concerned
about her getting the necessary medicines to help her.

I struggled with having to put her to sleep not because of keeping her
alive for me, but because itb s a personal and very difficult decision to
make. On December 30th I could not let her suffer anymore and took her
to the vet crying, trying to drive and hold her at the same time, not to
mention in the dark b kinda hard to see with tears. Unfortunately my
husband couldnb t go with me and my vet wasnb t there either, but somehow
I got through it.

Sadie Lady Little Girl I love you and miss you and hope you are better
now and we meet again!

Sandee, will you please see that Sadie meets up with Harley and Chico and
ALL the others. They were the last of the Special Elders and I miss them
terribly. The 8 left have a looong way to go to even try and take their
place.

Mary and then there were 8 Munchkins
