I've sent these on to Ashley and Diane, but of the places which handle
charitable efforts for ferrets these are the ones which we have personally
found say "Thank You!". We DO get burned at least once a year by some which
don't bother, of course, not all have time right away so sometimes a wait is
to be expected.

Troy-Lynn Eckart's shelter this year suffered through ECE which raised her
costs considerably, including having to arrange ways to safely isolate
non-exposed ferrets, even during a major rescue effort of something like 50
from an unknowledgable backyard breeder. As I recall, she also lost two of
her all time favorites this year so it's been tough for her. She will pass
on the vet's address or her own. T-L is also one of the two people who
amass and distribute extensive files on past and present rabies studies.

Pam Grant is now separated from her hubby and has had to close her shelter
until things settle, but she still operates the excellent information
resource: Shelters That Adopt and Rescue Ferrets. Also, she could pass on
the addresses of the vets which treat the animals originally from her
shelter.

Michael Janke is associated with one of the Florida shelters (I think there
are now 3 on the FML.) and he thanked us in advance when we asked
information so that we could contribute. Then, when we posted during a hard
time we mentioned our apologies for our contribution being delayed by
Meltdown's illness and he sent a new mail saying that he understood and that
we should not feel upset about it. From postings of his we have learned
that the shelter with which he is affiliated has had a recent influx of many
animals in need of veterinary care which is straining the coffers. Because
we had not done the background work we have done on others to be sure they
were real we sent out check to the associated vet.

Dick and Joan Bossart have always said thank you to us. Dick is the other
individual with grand rabies files which we used to quietly swing the
approaches of our state F&G and Health Departments to stances which are more
in the ferrets' favor. (Note: this was over a period of several years
during which we got documentation to Paul Kalka of N.J. FG&W, and he passed
on relevant stuff to the state health department. Being able to produce CDC
documents goes a long way.) Dick will soon have a new ferret care book out
to help fund the shelter (which we REALLY want info on when it becomes
available). Most of their income for the shelter is earned through their
industriousness.
