Hi ya'll!

Thanks to everyone that gave me advice about bathing and biting regarding
my two cuties, Snowflake and Pepper. I really appreciate it!

Now, here's my BIG PROBLEM. I have to find another apartment to live in
beginning in August. I had found the ideal place because it met all my
criteria and they would allow the ferrets. When my roommate went to drop
off the applications and deposits, she was informed that the apartment
regulations do not allow ferrets. I argued with the manager for a while.
She said she would be discriminating if she let me live there and not others
(I don't know how many other ferret owners have tried to lease from them).
They allow "pets" if they are of a certain size. I asked her if the
regulations specifically restricted ferrets from the premises and she said
not specifically. So now she wanrs me to fax her a letter or proposal that
the apartments should consider letting the ferrets in. My babies stay in a
big cage when I am not home and if they are out, I am always supervising.
They really don't do any damage if you watch them. And what are pet
deposits for anyway?? Does anyone have any idea of what I should say in the
letter or how I should phrase it? It has to be very convincing so they let
them live there.
Are there any lawyers or lawyers-to-be that think this is a legal issue? I
mean, they allow dogs, cats, fish, birds, atc... but discriminate against
ferrets because they say they have had a bad experience with them. Aren't
dogs and cats, who usually run around in the apartment, more likely to cause
damage? I am having a really hard time with this, because I have called a
lot of apartments and most say no to ferrets. They are not banned here in
Austin, so what's the deal????

Please write me back either to my e-mail above or post to the FML as soon as
possible! THANKS!!
